Sculpted from a single piece of HYENA STONE, so named because it resembles the skin of a Hyena, an animal indigenous to Africa.
Sculpted by 3rd Generation SHONA artist, CRETO SIMON. Initally he carved Rhinos but soon developed an interest for carving chameleons, crocodiles and more recently, a passion for frogs of whom he says, 'I enjoy carving frogs because they are a wonderful sight, that is why I do them on colourful stones such as Opal, Fruit Serpentine, Verdite and Cobalt'.
Beautiful markings on this piece and wonderfully shiny, as though she has just surfaced from the pond.
