This beautiful sculpture is hand-carved from a single piece of semi-precious RED JASPER by 3rd Generation SHONA artist, RUFARO MURENZA.
Shona sculpture is an art form passed down through generations. It carries with it the heritage and stories of the Zimbabwean people, where the secrets of the craft are transmitted from one generation to the next, safeguarding ancestral knowledge and techniques that have been refined over centuries.
Red Jasper is believed to absorb negative energy, protect against electromagnetic pollution and provide grounding, as it responds to the root chakra. It helps calm the mind, promote mental clarity and focus and encourage a positive outlook on life. It also boosts self confidence and self esteem.
