'I was born in February 1th 1980 in Mukaera in the northern parts of Zimbabwe. I come from a family that both among the Sculptors in the Guruve region and in the religious Community of Mukaera enjoys a high reputation. I began sculpting at the age of 12 years i really just wanted to be a football player (Soccer) and Sculpting was just a pass time, when my father fell ill i had to sculpt in order to support our family. In 1994 i joined Tengenenge, gave workshops and was soon one of the Sculptors of the Art Village, which could earn a living alone with sculptures. When after the turn of the Century the ownership and the responsibilities we're apaque in Tengenenge, i went back to Mukaera before joining Chitungwiza arts Centre. I describe my self as a religious reserved almost a shy man, this also reflected in work.'
Springstone is an exceptionally hard serpentine rock with a high iron content and no cleavages. It is extremely dense which allows the sculpture to be polished to a high shine. Although there are several mines containing this stone, the majority is mined in the north of Zimbabwe, in an area called Guruve.
Beautiful rich, deep colour to this piece.
Would enhance any home or garden setting.
