Sculpted from a single piece of SPRINGSTONE by 3rd Generation SHONA artist, ISHMAEL CHITIYO.
 
ISHMAEL was born in 1982. His parents died when he was a child which limited his education and he left school when he was 16. His brother Solomon taught him to sculpt . He worked with Ignatious Zhuwakiyi, a well known young artist and 1st Generation Shona artist, Sylvester Mubayi, who helped and inspired him.
He was a finalist in the 2008 National Arts Merits Awards, where he was awarded Certificate of Excellence.
 
He is one of the most promising young Shona artists to come out of Zimbabwe in recent years. His works encapsulate the simplicity and grace of modern Zimbabwe and we are very pleased and honoured to have some of his pieces for sale.
 
He lives and works at Chitungwiza.
